From
1990 onwards we supported 205 persons with disabilities,
medically by giving adaptive devices like wheel chair, caliper,
hearing aids etc. and financial support for treatment, corrective
surgery, physiotherapy, speech therapy etc. to improve their
physical capability. |
|
|
We also aim at meeting the expenses for medical care and
providing financial support to buy wheel chairs, calippers,
hearing aids etc. We have helped Anish Purushen a 15 year
old boy who had been affected by polio, with a tricycle.
He goes to school on this tricycle. We supported Sharana
with ear phone, Sudheesh for surgery, Akhilesh for physiotherapy
etc. |

In
order to bring out the inner abilities of Persons With Disabilities
we provide them with income generation programme, support for
education, counseling services etc. We help them to run self-help
groups too. |
 |
We
assisted 269 persons with Income Generation Programme,
82 for their studies, 523 through counseling, and 15 for
house maintenance.There are 27 self-help groups functioning
under Snehabhavan for socially handicapped women and for
persons with disabilities towards empowering them socially. |

Income
Generation Programme (IGP) – Achievements: |

Snehabhavan
helps people to set up stationary shops, tailoring shops,
centres for sale of fish, or an STD booth for generating
their income. |
|
We have helped Sujatha a Post Polio Paralysis patient
to open up a petty shop, Kochumon, a Post Polio
Paralysis patient to start up a fish business, Somol,
a Post Polio Paralysis patient with a tailoring
machine, Rakesh, a Post Polio Paralysis patient
to open a petty shop, and Rethnamma to buy goats.

Support

Other
than conducting a special school for mentally challenged
children, Snehabhavan supports financially backward
children with disabilities for studies. Tom Antony
who has locomotor disability, Amala Tomy a deaf
child, Tiju A Joseph a mentally challenged, Unnikuttan
a visually impaired are being supported by Snehabhavan. |

to excel in computers so there is a computer training
centre functioning in Snehabhavan.
